The 2012 vintage was an exceptional one for Riesling in Marlborough, so much so that we decided to make this very special wine for the first time. Our Jacksons Road vineyard has a long history of producing stunning Rieslings, with our first Riesling vines planted in 1990. In 2012 we had the magical combination of some exceptionally clean fruit and fruit with the perfect ratio of botrytis. Carefully blended together they have resulted in this exceptional wine. It was bottled on 27 March 2013.

It is a bright lemon colour and has a classical rich nose of florals, manuka honey, citrus, apples and ripe stone-fruit. As it opens up it really is a quite beguiling nose; creamy and seductive, with rose petals and crunchy, juicy, red apples, caramelised apples even, all on a background of ripe citrus, notably mandarine. These initial nuances carry through on the palate, which is immediately appealing and moreish with rich, spicy fruits; stone-fruits, citrus and apples. The acid sweetness balance is impeccable and there is a lovely minerally character running through the wine. The overall impression on the palate is of a charming, refreshing wine with loads of appeal. It lingers beautifully leaving a gentle floral, honey and fruity taste in the mouth. This wine is sure to give great pleasure as it ages gracefully and continues to improve and develop even greater depth and charm over time.
